DESCRIPTION
Pattadakal is one of India’s most important heritage destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the banks of the Malaprabha River in Karnataka. It represents the pinnacle of Chalukyan temple architecture, where Dravidian (South Indian) and Nagara (North Indian) styles were harmoniously combined. Historically, Pattadakal served as the coronation site for Chalukya kings, making it both architecturally and politically significant.

Virupaksha Temple
The Virupaksha Temple is the largest and most elaborate monument in Pattadakal. Built by Queen Lokamahadevi to commemorate a Chalukyan victory, it showcases exquisite sculptures and classic Dravidian architecture.
Mallikarjuna Temple
Located beside the Virupaksha Temple, the Mallikarjuna Temple was built by Queen Trailokyamahadevi. It features intricate carvings and a similar architectural style, though on a smaller scale.
